The Kid and the Wolf

Continuamos hoy nuestro recorrido por las Fábulas de Esopo. Cada vez que leo una, me sorprende lo válidas que siguen siendo en muchos aspectos. Recuerdo haber leído algunas de niño, pero no el que fueran tan profundas - tal vez sólo leí las de moraleja fácil, o no entendí lo que querían decir demasiado bien.
La de hoy, como suele ocurrir, es corta pero precisa. Como solemos hacer en Stories, no hay traducción salvo por un par de palabras que pueden causarte problemas - eso sí, si tienes cualquier duda dínoslo y te ayudaremos.
Por si no llevas con nosotros desde que empezamos con las Fábulas de Esopo, la palabra kid, en esta fábula, significa cabritillo. Hay un par de palabras más que pueden causarte dificultades: thatched roof significa techo de paja, to jeer significa hacer burla y grudge significa resentimiento. ¡Disfrútala!
The Kid and the Wolf
A frisky young Kid had been left by the herdsman on the thatched roof of a sheep shelter to keep him out of harm’s way. The Kid was browsing near the edge of the roof, when he spied a Wolf and began to jeer at him, making faces and abusing him to his heart’s content.
“I hear you,” said the Wolf, “and I haven’t the least grudge against you for what you say or do. When you are up there it is the roof that’s talking, not you.”
Do not say anything at any time that you would not say at all times.

Hola. Quería hacer una pregunta: ¿Cual es el significado de herdsman?
Y una cosa más: ¿Podéis aconsejarme un buen diccionario online inglés-español?

Nacho,
“Herdsman” significa “pastor” - “herd” significa “rebaño”, así que es algo así como “hombre de rebaños”.
Uno rápido y fácil de usar, y que funciona bastante bien, es spanishdict.com. Si tienes cierta soltura con el inglés, te recomendamos inglés-inglés: el más completo es dictionary.com, que muestra definiciones de varios diccionarios, incluyendo la etimología.
